Sony's PlayStation was introduced to US audiences in 1995, following its original release in Japan during 1994. The console relied on 32-bit technology to provide 3D (polygon based) games to mass audiences. The console hosts a large catalogue including memorable titles such as: Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy VII. The console was widely successful and preceded the even more commercially successful PlayStation 2.
